ANKI

ANKI instructions

success1

ANKI – A great way to memorize!

Here is what you need to do to get started:

1) Find ANKI in GOOGLE and select:

 anki-google

2) DOWNLOAD!  (it’s very quick!)

 anki-download

3) RUN and INSTALL

4) OPEN “ANKI” (Click on the Icon)

anki icon

CONGRATULATIONS – you are ready to start using ANKI!

There are two ways you can use ANKI.

1) Using an inlingua “deck” (ie a  “deck” that inlingua has sent to you)

1.1) Adding your own words and phrases

2) Creating your own “deck(s)” – and adding your own words/phrases.

(You can also download ANKI decks from the community – but the ones available for Portuguese are not that good in our opinion!)

1) USING AN INLINGUA DECK

Now that you have downloaded ANKI  you will be able to open any “deck” that we send to you by e-mail. (name_of_file.apkg)  NB: “Deck” = a list of words and phrases for you to memorize

A) SELECT DECK:   When you open the file you will see something like this.

anki-selectdeck

B)  When you have selected the “deck”  - click on “Study Now” to start.

anki studynow

C) ASK YOURSELF THE QUESTION

anki askyourselfthequestion

D)  RATE YOUR ANSWER

anki-rate answer

ANKI will continue asking questions until all the words / phrases have been classified as good or easy.

E) CONTINUE UNTIL YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE:

anki-congratulations

Check your ANKI every day!!

ADDING EXTRA WORDS

Add extra words to your deck as you come across them in your studies with the inlingua online learning programme or elsewhere. Be very careful with words that you add – make sure that you are writing things correctly etc . Once you have memorized something wrong – it is quite difficult to “unlearn” it.

Click on ADD

ADD the word or phrase you want to memorize

REPEAT

Click “CLOSE” when you have finished

TIPS

Little and often is the best way! It’s better to do ANKI every day for a few minutes than to spend a longer time at infrequent intervals.

When you add new words follow the inlingua system of masculine words in blue and feminine words in pink (the colours will help you remember later on)

Don’t try to take on too much in 1 sitting.   3 or 4 new words / phrases a day is PLENTY!

You can buy an ANKI  APP for your smart phone or ipad.  This means you can do your ANKI homework whenever you have a few minutes to spare – wherever you are.  The price is around €20.  Expensive for an APP – but EASILY worth the investment.

NB ANKI is an independent programme and has no links with inlingua! (We recommend it because we like it – NOT because we have a commission!!!)
